Permits

Who Issues The Repair Permit

Re-roofing, deck repair, and moving equipment curbs are the jobs most likely to need a permit. We check with the right office before work starts.

City Of Nogales

Buildings inside city limits, including the port-area warehouses and downtown parapet buildings, go through Community Development.

Town Of Patagonia

Main street roof work is permitted through the Town of Patagonia, with plan review by the county.

Santa Cruz County

Rio Rico, Tubac, Tumacacori-Carmen, and most of Amado use the county Building Department; Tubac adds historic zone review for visible changes.

Pima County Parcels

Some Amado buildings sit on Pima County parcels, which run through Pima County Development Services.

Area Questions

Questions About Our Service Area

Do I need a permit for a roof repair outside Nogales?

It depends on the scope and the office. Small seam and flashing repairs often need none, while re-roofing, deck repair, or moving an equipment curb usually does. We confirm with the county, the Town of Patagonia, or the city before larger work begins.

How do I know which county covers an Amado building?

Amado straddles the Santa Cruz and Pima county line, so the parcel record decides it. Pima parcels go through Pima County Development Services; the rest use the Santa Cruz County Building Department.

Does Tubac historic review cover roof repairs?

Visible changes in the Tubac historic zone go to the Santa Cruz County Tubac Historic Zone Advisory Board. Repairs that match existing materials and stay out of view are simpler; parapet caps and visible metal draw the closest look.

Which areas do you serve besides the city?

Rio Rico, Tumacacori-Carmen, Tubac, and Amado along I-19, and Patagonia on SR 82. Each town page covers the roof problems we see most there.

Is a trip to Patagonia handled differently?

Only in planning. Materials for the specific repair are loaded before the drive out SR 82, so a seam or parapet repair can be finished in one visit when the roof allows it.

Do you handle buildings on ranch or farm land?

Yes, when the building is commercial: barns, equipment sheds, packing buildings, and shops. Metal roofs on these buildings are mostly fastener, lap, and skylight panel repairs.
